Ashton Sixth Form College students have been putting the new Performing Arts Theatre through its paces with a run of shows leading up to the Christmas Break.

Performing Arts Students and other volunteers from around the college have been making preparations since October in order to produce one of the departments largest scale productions in the history of the college. The students performed three evening shows and a school matinee which required hard work and dedication as well as most of their spare time over the last couple of months.

Alongside Ashton Sixth Form College Principal Dr Janet Nevin a large number of Tameside dignitaries were in attendance for the final performance including Chief Executive of Tameside Council and Ashton Sixth Form College Governor Steven Pleasant, Cllr Kieran Quinn (Executive Leader of the Council), Cllr Susan Quinn, Cllr Bill Fairfoul and Lord Tom Pendry.

Dr Nevin said;

“The show was fantastic, it was clear to see that students have been working hard on everything from set design to costumes, the lighting and atmosphere was perfect and the performances truly magnificent, we had a fantastic evening”

The college would like to say thanks in particular to Head of Performing Arts Sheridan Lewis whose hard work and dedication ensured the shows were a success.
