Robin Barayuga, who is registered blind, recently started  A-Level studies in Law , History, English Literature and Physics at Ashton Sixth Form College.

Originally from the Philippines, Robin and his family moved to Tameside when he was 8 years old.  Robin lost his sight at birth and he has just a little light perception. The Tameside Sensory Support Service Visual Impairment team has supported him since 2005, working with him firstly in the home and then at Leigh Street Primary School, Hyde, before ensuring a smooth transition into Alder Community High School. 

Robin has made an excellent start since coming to Ashton Sixth Form College and now, along with the support he receives from Tameside Sensory Support Service, he works with members of Ashton Sixth Form College’s Additional Learning Support team. He has support in most of his classes, but also makes use of computer software and hardware to translate all his materials into Braille.

Robin did very well in his GCSE courses at Alder, achieving 4 A/A*, 4 Bs and a C. In his spare time he also likes to watch sport, being an ardent Manchester United fan, listening to music, watching films and playing computer games. There is every indication that his success will continue at Ashton Sixth Form College.
