Ashton Sixth Form College is celebrating another excellent year of results. We have maintained an outstanding A-level pass rate of 99% – bucking the downward trend nationally and beating the sixth form national average. Ashton Sixth Form College is particularly delighted by the increase in students attaining the top grades in their courses – high grades (A*, A, B) have increased again this year a huge 73% of all A-Levels taken by Ashton Sixth Form Students were graded A*-C. 

Three students secured places at Oxford and Cambridge universities with several others gaining places at some of the top Russell Group Institutions. One student gained a sports scholarship to study at Georgetown University and to play at LA Galaxy, following in the footsteps of many football stars. Another successful student has gained a highly competitive university level Apprenticeship with Ernst & Young, one of only a handful of students to do so.

Thirty-nine of the sixth form’s AS/A-level courses had perfect pass rates of 100% in addition to a 100% pass rate across all BTEC Level 3 Diploma courses.  48 students achieved D*D*D* (the highest grade possible) in their BTEC.

Results summary:

* An A-level pass rate of 99%, which we have maintained for the past 4 years.

* A 7% increase in high grades over 2 years, to take us to our highest % ever.

* An impressive 39 AS/A-level courses have a 100% pass rate.

* 73% of all A-level grades achieved were A* – C grades, an increase of 3% over two years and our highest ever. 

* A 100% pass rate on our BTEC courses, with around 3 /4 achieving distinction grades, and all students on BTEC Business and Performing Arts achieving distinction grades. 

* 48 students achieved D*D*D* (the highest grade possible) in their BTEC 

* This year we will see over 600 of our students progress onto over 60 different universities and many others have already taken up excellent employment opportunities.

College Principal Dr Janet Nevin was on hand to congratulate students who had come into college to collect their results:  “These results are a tribute to the commitment and hard work of students and staff across all our courses.  The excellent pass rate and the very significant percentage of students achieving top grades are evidence of the culture of high expectations which we have at Ashton Sixth Form College. I wish all of our students the best of luck as they embark on their next step to university, an apprenticeship or in to employment.”
