On March 19th as part of the college’s student enrichment programme, and with an aim to promote global college links, a group of eight students and two teachers are travelling to Beijing for a visit lasting 8 days. They will be participating in a packed out itinerary experiencing the ancient heritage and modern advancements of Beijing, guided by Study Link Tours. 

Our students will be visiting a range of cultural attractions such as The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and a visit to Beijing Zoo to meet the pandas. The trip will also take them to the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu, the Bayun Temple, the Summer Palace, Beijing National Stadium and Aquatics Centre. Student will also explore the Hutongs of Beijing and take an excursion to the Temple of Heaven and Hongqiao Market.

Whilst accomplishing the city’s notorious sightseeing the group will also visit our partner school - Yuxin School Attached to Capital Normal University, a 15-18 high school in the suburbs of Northern Beijing. Whilst at Yuxin School students will have the opportunity to engage in some traditional activities such as Chinese calligraphy, and Tai Chi. It is intended that they will spend some time in classes with their Chinese peers and engage in activities such as Mandarin lessons, and traditional arts and craft.

The trip has been organised by Dr Christopher Nield (English Department) and Jo Fletcher Saxon (Assistant Principal) who are just as excited as the students to be venturing across the globe to visit our partner school and explore the city where ancient and modern china meet and excel.
