Fundraising for the Guide Dogs
Ashton Sixth Form College have worked closely with the Guide Dogs on a number of fundraising projects. Most recently, the Christmas Fair brought together stall owners from across Manchester, in aid of the Guide Dogs and Willow Wood Hospice.
This past week, Eddie and his owner Dawn visited the college to present Ashton Sixth Form College with a certificate of thanks for the money raised. Pictured above is Lindsay who organised the Christmas Fair in aid of the two charities. Who needs Crufts when you've got Eddie?
Guide Dogs began in 1931 and since then they have helped over 29,000 people achieve life-changing independence. Guide Dogs are responsible for around 8,000 dogs at any one time and at the end of 2015, there were 4,994 guide dog owners in the UK, according to GuideDogs.org.uk
The Guide Dogs have previously visited the college as part of the 'Puppy Room' programme during student exam periods, to reduce stress and aid relaxation. The college is looking forward to working with Guide Dogs in the future.
