Dance Workshop with Shobana Jeyasingh

25 September 2017

Ashton Sixth Form College’s A-Level dance students worked with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company earlier this week. Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company are an internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company, based in London. Students learned repertoire from Jeyasingh's new work La Bayadere.

As part of the A-Level dance course at the college, students have access to a wide range of workshops and visits across the country to improve their technique and show them the unique opportunities of a future within the performing arts industry.

Throughout the workshop, dance students learned aspects of Jeyasingh's unique contemporary dance technique and completed creative tasks, whilst mastering one of the solos from La Bayadere. Following on from the workshop, the students will also be attending the Lowry on Thursday to watch the full work.
