Google Digital Garage workshops

28 February 2018

Google Digital Garage experts visited the college to run a series of workshops and drop-in sessions with students at Ashton Sixth Form College.

The multinational technology company, founded as a research project in 1996, now employs over 70,000 people worldwide (abc.xyz/investor). Google’s presence as an internet search engine is global and their work extends far beyond with its online advertising, computing, software and hardware, as well as a wide range of online services.

Google have created an education and learning zone, which is currently based in Manchester city centre. The Google Digital Garage, as it is known, visited the college to work and advise students. Ashton Sixth Form College regularly invite guest speakers and visitors to the college to provide students with the opportunities to set themselves apart.

The Google Digital Garage, based in the Careers department, allowed students to drop-in and visit with a range of questions and queries. Students were able to ask about CVs, interviews, applications, websites and more. The expert advice ranged from making a first impression to technology solutions.

Alongside the drop-in, Google Digital Garage representatives ran CV workshops in tutorials throughout the week.

Gaining key advice, thinking creatively and chances to network make the difference when students go on to progress on to higher education, apprenticeships and employment.
