Duke of Edinburgh students at Ashton Sixth Form College braved the snow this weekend in West Yorkshire. 

Students travelled with the Duke of Edinburgh co-ordinator to the Rishworth Moor Area of the Pennines. The trip was a key part of their navigation training. 

Despite the cold weather, students battled the elements and completed their navigation training. Through the snow and harsh winds of the so-called 'Beast from the East', the students excelled in their abilities to work as a team and problem solve. Experience such as this is great practice for the further expeditions students will complete to gain their award later in the year. 

At Ashton Sixth Form College, students are able to complete the Duke of Edinburgh award alongside their studies as an enrichment activity. 

Those with lots of experience or none are welcomed on to the programme to complete the Gold Award. The Gold Award is split in to various categories, developing students experience in volunteering, physical and skills, expedition and residential.
