The Student Council Elections for 2018-19 took place last week. Each candidate recorded their campaign video, outlining their goals and aims for the future of Ashton Sixth Form College, while also explaining their experience and why they were the best fit for the role.

The candidates this year included Mela Asmellash, Charlotte Saltsman and Sean Bennett.

During tutorials, students had the opportunity to watch each candidate video and then voted in closed ballot. An incredible 80% of the student body voted for their Student Council.

The counting team ensured that the votes had been counted and verified. The results were as follows:

• President - Mela Asmellash

• Vice President - Charlotte Saltsman

• Officer of the Council - Sean Bennett
