Evening of Celebration for Higher and Adult Education Learners
Ashton Sixths Form College's Higher and Adult Education students have been celebrating their outstanding achievements. While Ashton Sixth Form College has an incredible range of provision for young people in terms of A-Levels and Vocational courses, they also have an extensive range of course on offer to adult and higher education learners aged 18 and over.
The Celebration Evening, which took place at Dukinfield Town Hall, recognised the hard work and achievements of adult and higher education learners who have shone in their studies. Students who have been or are currently studying across a range of courses including GCSEs and functional skills courses, as well as full time and part time university courses such as teacher training, were their to accept awards. Individuals who have demonstrated a real love of learning were presented with an award in front of their fellow learners, staff, family, friends, the Mayor of Tameside, the Chief Executive Officer of Tameside Council Stephen Pleasant, Staffordshire University representatives, college governors and teachers.
Assistant Principal for Higher and Adult Education, Jo Fletcher-Saxon, said “Once again we all had an amazing evening celebrating the progress and achievements of our adult and higher education students. We heard stories about people’s lives completely transforming through studying, people gaining employment, people moving up in their careers, our trainee teachers securing their first teaching posts, and amazing university offers for those who have completed foundation year courses or secured their Maths or English qualifications. It’s what we are here for and we are really proud of the college’s work with post 18 students.”
