Second year students take part in Applications Day

27 September 2018

This academic year, second year students at Ashton Sixth Form College took part in 'Applications Day'.

For those who have an interest in going to university, and have identified this in their tutor groups, Applications Day allowed them to focus their skills and prepare for the next steps beyond college. Students had the option of going on a range of trips to various universities or they could choose to work on their personal statement alongside university specialists within college.

The university trips across the North West included the University of Bolton, Huddersfield, Liverpool and Salford. Students were able to choose which university to attend and explored the university on a campus tour. They also took part in sessions on 'UCAS and personal statements', 'HE and student finance,' and 'accommodation'.

Within the college, students took part in personal statement workshops with Edge Hill University, the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. They explored the best way to research universities and courses, as well as gathering some top tips and advice for working on their own personal statements.

At Ashton Sixth Form College, students progress on to a range of destinations across the country. The college is passionate about providing students with opportunities alongside their academic qualifications. Applications Day allows students to gain a greater understanding of life after college and prepares students to make informed decisions about their futures.

The students who are more focused on apprenticeships or employment attended the Employability Conference.
