UK Parliament visited Ashton Sixth Form College recently to talk to Politics students.

As part of the politics course at Ashton students explore both UK Politics and UK Government. They look at the democratic system of the UK as well as the varying political parties. On the UK Government unit, Politics students look closely at the rules and laws that govern the UK, and the roles and powers of the Prime Minister. Essentially, students gain an overview of the whole system and gain a greater understanding of how all parts of the government interact. 

By inviting UK Parliament to the college, students were able to engage in debate and discussion. They asked questions about a range of issues from how the monarchy interact with government to the future of British politics under current changes.

This extensive knowledge allows them to make informed decisions and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the UK system in comparison to the American system in their second year units.

The Politics department regularly welcomes visitors to the college to provide a well-rounded political outlook from across the board.
