Media students went on a trip to visit the set of Channel 4's Countdown. Countdown was the first show to be aired on Channel 4 in 1982 and continues to be one of the longest running game shows in the world.

Up until 2009, Countdown was filmed in Leeds and had been for almost 30 years before moving to Granada Studios in Manchester. For the last 5 years, the show has found home at Media City which is where the students visited.

Students had the incredible opportunity to visit the set. They were able to watch a live recording of an episode and gain a real understanding of the way a TV production works. Students gained an overview of the many roles within the industry and saw firsthand how each of the crew work together to create a single episode including the presenter, camera operators, sound technicians, producers, floor managers, runners, assistants and more.

Digital Technology and Multimedia students regularly welcome visitors and guest speakers from within the industry and also go on trips to gain invaluable experience.
