We are a Disability Confident employer
Disability Confident organisations play a leading role in changing attitudes for the better. (disabilityconfident.campaign.gov.uk)
Ashton Sixth Form College have recently become a 'Disability Confident Employer'. The UK government notes that 7.6 million people of working age in the UK have a disability. Working within the disability confident scheme ensures Ashton is providing a fully inclusive and accessible recruitment process. Disability Confident Employers ensure people who have disabilities are supported throughout the recruitment process.
Disability Confident also ensures that staff who have or acquire a disability, both long-term and short-term, are encouraged to be open and discuss their support needs. Throughout their employment, the college will continue to ensure there are no barriers to the development and progression of disabled staff. In addition, the college will also ensure that they are valuing and listening to feedback from disabled staff.
There are also a range of other areas the Disability Confident scheme covers and more information can be found on the government website here.
The college is now aiming to reach level 3 and become a 'Disability Confident Leader'.
