A-Level Accounting students had the unique opportunity to visit KPMG's Manchester office.

15 students attended the KPMG Careers Insight at the St Peter's Square office, in association with Future First, a national charity promoting social mobility.

KMPG is often known as one of the 'Big Four' professional services networks in the world. The 'Big Four' have dominated the market since the early 21st century. The company employs over 16,000 people in the UK alone (home.kpmg/uk, 2019) and as a global company operates in 153 countries, collectively employing over 207,000 people (home.kpmg, 2019).

The day was designed to introduce students to the company and the way KPMG does business. It also encouraged students to think about the roles available to them within such a large company and how students could maximise their chances of securing a role with the company in the future.

The day began with a series of icebreakers, introductions and welcome presentations to allow the students to embed themselves in the day and really make the most of the opportunity. Students attended careers carousels where they were able to find out about a range of career opportunities within the company, followed by the highly anticipated office tour.

Students then attended a range of sessions including how to buid their brand, a talk with UA92 and ethical debates. They were also able to develop their practical, communication and presentation skills through mock interviews and a networking lunch.

The Accounting students who attended the day worked incredible well and Alex Fleming from Future First commented on their performance:

“All the students from ASFC were fantastic... they were engaged, fun and stepped up as young professionals at KPMG. I can definitely see some of them being successful at a company like KPMG in the future.”
