Ashton Sixth Form College Alumni, Lisa Eigbadon was featured on the BBC's North West Tonight show yesterday evening.

Lisa is part of a group of teenagers from Greater Manchester who are petitioning for "a tougher code of conduct" in Parliament and in Politics in general. Their petition to date has over 67,000 signatures. Lisa, alongside some of the students, visited the House of Commons to meet with the Speaker of the House, John Bercow. They were able to hear his opinion and put some of their own questions directly to the presiding officer of the House of Commons.

Alongside Jaiden and Precious, Lisa spoke live on the 6 o'clock news about some of the changes they would like to see become a reality. The students' are calling for better behaviour in Parliament to ensure that Politicians are considerate and dignified in their conduct. Lisa explained that they were simply asking for Politicians to have "basic respect for each other", setting an example to society outside of the House. 

The group were also calling for better representation in the house. All three of the students speaking to the BBC were vocal about their feelings of underrepresentation, fearing that the current Parliament is not representative of the youth today and also alienating them too.

Lisa studied Sociology, History and Drama at Ashton before progressing on to study Law at Aston University. During her time at Ashton, she took part in various Youth Parliament opportunities and it is fantastic to see her continuing to voice her opinions - now on a national stage.
