The University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) visited Ashton Sixth Form College's A-Level Graphic Design department. 

Kevin Darton from UCLAN led the workshop which encouraged students to think creatively. Second year students are about to begin devising their final pieces and Kevin's visit was an opportunity to encourage students to approach their work differently. 

Following Kevin's presentation, student's got involved in an activity which pushed their imagination and asked students to think outside the box. Students were given a task to draw an unusual object/thing/scenario, a task that could be interpreted in a number of ways. For example, they were asked to draw 'the wrong button' or a 'rubbish car.' The outcomes were tremendous and the creativity expressed throughout the class was inspiring. Kevin worked to develop student's skills in interpreting a brief and encouraged them to look beyond the obvious. 

Each year, the standard of work produced by the Art and Design department is outstanding. Most recently in the latest exam results, every Graphic Design student achieved an A*-C grade - an incredible reflection of their hard work and innovation.
