Education and Health's annual Tameside 4 Good fundraiser

13 November 2019

Education and Health students have kick started their annual Christmas fundraiser.

Each year the students studying Child Care and Health & Social Care choose to raise money for a charity that is close to their hearts. For the past few years, their chosen charity has been Tameside 4 Good. They are a local charity that provide grants to causes throughout the Tameside borough. Through their funding they are able to make a real difference to people's lives in a number of ways.

Students have decided to help the charity with their annual Christmas Toy Appeal. This particular project directly helps young people aged 18 and under. The aim of the toy appeal is to ensure that children who are living in poverty receive a gift this Christmas. This means students and staff could be helping future generations of Ashton Sixth Form College students and their families.

Students dressed up in some of their favourite pairings: Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc., Woody and Jessie from Toy Story, Salt and Pepper, to name a few. They then travelled across the college campus with their buckets, ready to receive generous donations from students and staff. Following the fundraiser, students will now use the money they have raised to buy toys and gifts for children across Tameside.

In previous years, the amount of toys students have been able to donate to the appeal has been astonishing. This year looks to be just as amazing following the hard work and determination Education and Health students have already shown.
