Coronavirus response update 2nd June 2020

A few updates today:

The 2020/2021 Bursary application form and guidance notes are now available to download and print on the College website at www.asfc.ac.uk/bursary. Please note, it is essential that you apply for the bursary as soon as possible so we can begin to process your application form whilst adhering to COVID-19 safety regulations. It is extremely important that you submit your application form, along with copies of the relevant evidence, before the middle of August. Please mark your application for the attention of:

Please note: preferential treatment will be given to new A1 students after the mid-August deadline. Unfortunately, you may miss out on a number of weeks of bursary payments as a consequence. As a reminder and an incentive to submit your applications early, we are pleased to say that the early Application prize draw of £100 we be open to all applicants who have submitted fully completed and accepted applications by the middle of August.

Teaching staff are setting and assessing work as normal for the rest of this term. Please could you encourage your sons and daughters to continue to complete the work set? It is really important that we preserve study habits and make sure that all students are using this time well to ensure that they do not fall too far behind. Independent learning skills are an essential component of success at A level and with BTEC Level 3 courses. As mentioned before the half term break, teachers will begin online, live teaching sessions for 50% of the curriculum programme. These will begin from the 8th June, with all departments running online session from the 15th June 2020. This will form part of our plan for offering some level of face to face support and teaching before the end of the academic year. Your sons and daughters will be receiving an information sheet via email outlining the dos and don’ts of working in lessons online. It is important that all students abide by these guidelines; failure to do so may lead to their removal from online ‘live’ teaching. A copy of this information sheet will also be sent to parents for your awareness.
