T Level qualifications are officially launching at Ashton Sixth Form College.

The college is extremely excited to announce that the new qualification will be available to students starting in September 2022.

T Levels are a brand new qualification equivalent to three A Levels. The T Level has been developed by the Department for Education alongside employers and businesses to ensure that the learners who complete them are best prepared for the workplace.

The unique nature of the courses mean that alongside classroom based learning at the college, students also complete extensive industry placements to gain 'on-the-job' experience. It is expected that these industry placements will equate to at least 315 hours or 45 days.

Ashton will be launching the following T Level courses:

• Digital Design, Production and Development
• Education - Early Years
• Health & Science - Health (Supporting Health Care)
• Business and Administration (Business Support)

Principal Anton McGrath said,

These challenging qualifications combine the best of classroom teaching with substantial work experience so students can develop the skills employers want."

The addition of these qualifications to our curriculum allows us to offer broader choice to students and represents a real change across the landscape for vocational qualifications which better recognises the importance of these programmes and pathways. The college has a long history of ensuring students achieve above and beyond. Alongside it's established A Level programme, the college has a wealth of experience delivering vocational qualifications that combine classroom teaching with placements in the industry, across a range of sectors. Ashton has a dedicated Work Placements Team, who hold existing strong partnerships with employers across Greater Manchester. Teachers who are vocational specialists will be bringing their knowledge and expertise to the T Levels courses.
