13 Ashton students join Arts Emergency
13 Ashton Sixth Form students will join this year's cohort as Art Emergency mentees.
Arts Emergency is 'an award-winning mentoring charity and support network' supporting students with their next steps in higher education and creative careers.
Students at Ashton have been matched with industry mentors who come from a variety of creative backgrounds. The college's partnership with Arts Emergency currently allows their students to be mentored by 14 creative professionals working in the arts industry, accessing work experience and wide range of opportunities. The mentoring programme enables students to build their networks, contacts and confidence whilst also gaining invaluable advice from experts in their field. Students have been matched with mentors from a variety of professions including photography, architecture, dance, film/TV production, marketing, design, illustration and more!
In previous years, in partnership with Arts Emergency, Performing Arts students participated in a workshop with Coronation Street star, Julie Hesmondhalgh. This was an opportunity for students to gain an insight into Julie's journey so far and ask questions about Creative Art careers and opportunities they can get involved in.
Since then, students have benefited from the Arts Emergency programme each year, gaining access to unique opportunities with the creative industries.
