In 2020, Angela became Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office, Shadow Chancellor and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.
Students put forward challenging and informed questions covering a range of topics. They asked about the effect of current bus strikes on young people, the role and need for political Whips, how ethnic minorities could be more represented in the curriculum, how Angela would go about recovering from the affects of the pandemic and the role of mental health and well-being in economic and policy decision-making.
Students from both Longdendale High School and Rayner Stephens High School, as part of Stamford Park Trust, also joined the events, putting forward some interesting questions to Angela.
The Humanities department were extremely proud to be able to welcome Angela, and give the students a unique opportunity to hear from a current member of prominent politics and challenge their own viewpoints too.
