Record number Oxbridge offers for Ashton XL students
Ashton Sixth Form College has seen a record number of students receive university offers from the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford.
10 outstanding students who are currently enrolled on the Ashton XL programme have received offers for September 2022. Five students received offers from the University of Cambridge and five received offers from the University of Oxford.
Each student who received an offer is part of the Ashton XL programme. The long-standing and successful programme works with high achieving students to support and challenge them, giving them the best possible chance to realise their ambitions.
Ashton XL students join a dedicated tutor group of like-minded individuals and are supported by their specialist Senior Tutor from the day their college journey begins. They gain access to unique guest speakers, trips across the country, and more.
Students who have Oxford and Cambridge in their sights, take part in mock interviews, masterclasses and bespoke trips that prepare them for the process.
Ashton XL Manager, Damian Windle, said,
“This year has set a new college record with 10 students gaining a place at Oxbridge. The students and staff have worked incredibly hard in one of the most challenging and disrupted years of education in living memory. These offers represent their dedication and resilience and showcases everything the XL program has to offer.”
Principal Anton McGrath said,
“We were pleased to see so many of our Oxbridge candidates securing their places at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities this year. Over the last few years, the number of students from Ashton Sixth Form College progressing to these prestigious universities has grown. This is the first year in the college's history that we have received offer for 10 students. Congratulations to each and every one of them!”
