This year Ashton Sixth Form College 3D Design & Technology students have been challenged to reimagine and redesign the college campus to reflect how it would look in 2050, a brief set by Centre Principal Lisa Richards and Stamford Park Trust CEO Anton McGrath.
This has involved researching the challenges and requirements a modern college faces, speculating on the future of educational facilities and making the most efficient use of the facilities we already have through modernization.
The project introduced students to Computer Aided Drawing and methods of using 3D modelling and rendering technology in order to create realistic design representations of their designs. The brief also challenged students to transfer their design from digital concepts into physical models.
The main goal of our first architecture project is to give students who are considering careers in architecture an introduction to the architecture pathway in 3D Design. It also gives an opportunity for all students to develop a good working understanding of CAD and its role in design and engineering.
To end the project, students will be exhibiting their designs in order to communicate their final ideas to a wider audience and we’d love it if you could join us.
The event will be on Wednesday 24th May 2-4pm in Costa.
