The XL Academy have recently welcomed several guest speakers into college, all of which are Ashton Sixth Form College alumni.

Jemma and Ashlea both visited college to speak to students about their journey in Medicine. Jemma studied Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at sixth form and is now in her fourth year of Medicine at Manchester University. Jemma gave an insight into the realities of studying medicine and how to be successful during studying.

Ashlea finished sixth form this year after studying Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Core Maths and EPQ and is now going on to study Medicine at the University of Liverpool. Ashlea explored her journey of being a Ashton Sixth Form College student and being part of The XL Academy.

 

 

Students were also visited by India Hazelwood and Vernon Allott who came and spoke about the application process to Oxbridge universities and how to achieve the grades to secure their places. India is due to start at the University of Oxford to study Economics and Vernon is progressing on to study Natural Science at the University of Cambridge.
