November Speakers of the Month
We have welcomed several Speakers of the Month into college over November.
Stephen Lynch joined us Monday 13th November. Stephen is the STEM Ambassador for Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as a Mathematics lecturer. He has several published booked on his research on mathematical coding and spoke to students about Brain-inspired computing, as well as his career journey.
Claire Gleave visited the college on Wednesday 15th November. Claire is from Findel Education, which is a local company in Hyde that distribute educational resources to school. Claire, as the Head of Colleague Communications and Business Support, inspired over 120 students. She explored her own career journey and gave students advice on what she looks for when she is recruiting. Students took away lots of knowledge on advice for when they are applying for apprenticeships, university and employment after they leave college.
Our final speaker of the month was Bafta winning, Phil Mealey. Phil is from Tameside and has co-wrote and produced popular shows such as The Royle Family, Early Doors and Sunshine. Phil spoke to our Performing Arts and English students on his career journey and also shared his industry knowledge through hands-on workshops focusing on acting and writing skills. He even brought his Bafta along and students were able to hold it! Students were left inspired after learning about Phil's journey.
