Alumni thriving in new apprenticeship!
Oliver Tinsley-Haney, from Denton Community College, studied Business, Mathematics and Sport Science at Ashton Sixth Form College before leaving in Summer 2023.
Whilst at college, Oliver worked with Employer Engagement & Partnerships Officer, Janet to secure an apprenticeship for post college. After receiving two offers, he decided to take a role with Whitecroft Lighting as a Supply Chain Apprentice.
Whitecroft Lighting is one of the UK's largest manufacturers of commercial lighting. This opportunity came from Ashton's Career & Employability collaboration with Whitecroft Lighting as they are part of our employer consortium. They regularly share current apprenticeship vacancies and work closely with Janet to fill these vacancies.
Oliver has been thriving in his apprenticeship role:
"Everyone has made me feel very welcome and part of the Whitecroft team which has helped me settle in. I have gained knowledge of not only the department I will be working in, but also everywhere else within the business which will help me gain a better understanding of my role as a supply chain apprentice."
The company's Learning and Development Officer, Warren Young also said:
"Oliver has settled in well with his team and is already making a great contribution within the team, his attitude is fantastic, very polite and hard working. We have given him projects to work on with his mentor and have had excellent feedback."
We are very proud of Oliver's hard work so far in his apprentice and wish him the best of luck as he progresses!
