Geography Oxbridge success
Year on year, students at Ashton Sixth Form College successfully secure places at Oxford and Cambridge universities.
These students, part of The XL Academy, progress on to various different courses, including Geography. Over the past six years, an impressive eight Geography students have gone to study Geography at either Oxford or Cambridge.
Tamsin Daly, from Mossley Hollins High School, is the most recent offer holder. Tamsin has received an offer to study Geography at the University of Cambridge (Homerton) starting this September 2024.
Head of Geography, Matt Perriss, is very pleased that Geography has continued its run of Oxbridge success and is full of praise for Tamsin:
"An offer to study at one of the top two universities in the world is no mean feat but Tamsin has real ability for the subject and has worked with determination and diligence, she deserves this coveted laurel."
Fellow geographers at Oxbridge universities include Sam Seaborn and James Poff from St Thomas More RC College and Rory Tyler from West Hill School who left Ashton in 2022, along with Melissa Greenough from Rayner Stephens High School who left Ashton in 2020.
It's extremely special for the Geography department for their students to progress on to such prestigious universities. Good luck to Tamsin in her upcoming summer exams.
