Student prepares for LA Galaxy move

14 August 2014

Ashton Sixth Form College student, Mo Rukundo prepares for an opportunity of a lifetime, to play professional football at LA Galaxy, following in the footsteps of David Beckham and Robbie Keane.

After a successful two years studying at Ashton Sixth Form College, Mo is moving to America after securing a Sports scholarship to play for LA Galaxy whilst studying for a Sport Psychology degree at Georgetown University.

This move is the culmination of many years playing football at a professional level for Burnley Football Club and then for the under 18s team at Manchester City as part of the English Development League. Mo will be playing with LA Galaxy’s first team, alongside football stars Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan and may find himself up against Frank Lampard and Thierry Henry, who both join football teams in America this season.

Mo said:

“I’m so excited to be moving to America and play for LA Galaxy. Football is my life, I’ve been playing since I was 7 years old and seeing some of my family make it professionally I hope one day to play for one of the Premiership Teams or even England! I’ve already seen where I’ll be living when I move, a mansion in LA..!”

Mo joins other family members who play professional football including his cousin, Berahino who plays for West Brom and Uncle, Bigirimana who plays for Newcastle United.
