Dance and Performing Arts Students shone last night at the Collections Showcase. The showcase was a celebration of work from A Level Dance and BTEC Performing Arts students who entertained a packed out audience, showing off their assessed choreography and performance pieces.

Head of Performing Arts and Dance teacher, Tamzin Sinclair-Sivins said  “The Dance Showcase was the culmination of a year of hard work in which the students were able to perform their exam pieces to a live audience. All the students worked incredibly hard to ensure that it was an excellent performance. I am very proud of all that they have achieved and wish them every success for the future – they deserve it”.

The outstanding Performing Arts department at Ashton Sixth Form College is renowned for producing some of the best dancers and performers in the area. Alumni talent includes:

Jordan Lennie (progressed from Ashton Sixth Form College to Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary) who has danced in Paris, Berlin and London and performed at the Royal Opera House and Sadlers Wells.

Beccie Cunningham (progressed from Ashton Sixth Form College to Endge Hill University and then MMU) is Head of Dance at Copley High School and co-owns stage school Empire Community Stage School. 

Gabriella Hill (progressed from Ashton Sixth Form College to Liverpool John Moores University) is now a qualified teacher of Dance. She performed at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and became a member of JMUpstart Dance Company and performed in many North West dance platforms, as well as teaching workshops.

Sarah Parkinson (progressed from Ashton Sixth Form College to Edge Hill University) is currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Dance and has had lots of performance opportunities such as performing In London’s West End at Her Majesty’s Theatre with Torque Youth Dance Company, being a principal dancer at The Palace Theatre and Opera House in Manchester for a number of amateur musicals, as well as having the opportunity to perform at the Rugby World Cup in 2014.
