Phantom Pain Lecture with University of Manchester
Dr Clifford Richardson from the University of Manchester visited Ashton Sixth Form College to guest lecture at the final Realising Aspirations session of the year.
Realising Aspirations is the college's flagship university preparation programme, which allows students to explore a particular subject strand at university level. Students experience lectures and seminars at degree level amongst likeminded individuals, who are passionate about their chosen subject strand. As well as visiting lecturers and guest visits, students are able to visit a university across the country that specialises in their chosen subject.
Students had the opportunity to attend the 'Phantom Pain' lecture, delivered by Dr Clifford Richardson. Dr Clifford Richardson has a wealth of experience and knowledge starting in 1980. His beginnings in the practical field of nursing, twinned with his extensive education, mean his knowledge and passion for his research area is astonishing.
Those students who attended the lecture, had the opportunity to learn more about the topic of pain and in particular pain relating to a body part that is no longer there. The topics explored, allowed students to ask questions, think beyond their course and understand the research that takes place in groundbreaking medical fields.
