During the Easter holidays, Duke of Edinburgh students were extremely busy completing their practice expeditions. Students on both walking and canoeing expeditions spent 3 days of the Easter break building up their skills ready for the main expedition.

Those who opted to complete the expedition by canoe travelled on the River Ure from Ripon to York area.

The walkers embarked on a 3-day trek within the Yorkshire Dales region of the country, exploring Ingleton, Malham and Gargrave. 

The Duke of Edinburgh award encourages students to work together, developing a tremendous amount of skills outside the classroom. Students learn vital life skills and a community mind-set that is valued highly by employers in the future. The award was formed in 1956 by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh. Just last year alone, 133,369 awards were presented to young people across the country (DofE.org).
