Ashton Sixth Form College Drama students put on a spectacular performance of 'Pack up your troubles' at Portland Basin in honour of Remembrance Day.

The Performing Arts department worked with the theatre company, 2 Boards and a Passion, to present the promenade performance. In this particular piece, the distinct line between actors and audience are blurred as they occupy the same space. By doing this, the performance becomes much more interactive and real for the audience.

Throughout the museum, various reenactments and performances took place to highlight the 25 former pupils and two teachers of Ashton Grammar School who lost their lives in the First World War. 

The Ashton Grammar School was founded in 1862 and was the largest Sunday school in England at the time. The Drama student paid their respects to those who lost their lives in the war. This year in particular, marks 100 years since the ending of World War One. 

In the weeks leading up to the event, Drama students tirelessly worked with the company to rehearse and perfect their pieces. Drama students at Ashton showed true dedication to the day - working beyond classroom time, holding dress rehearsals and researching the stories of those affected by the war.
