The Fundraising Society have been raising money for the National AIDS trust. 

Across just two Fridays, selling red ribbons in return for a donation, the students have managed to raise an incredible £90.36!

Each week, the fundraising society meet up to discuss their chosen charities and fundraising initiatives. They look at the different ways to raise money in order to help worth while causes both locally and globally. 

The National AIDS Trust was founded in 1987 and "champions the rights of people living with HIV and campaigns for change." The trust works to raise awareness, educate and create change in both the research surrounding and perceptions of HIV. 

World AIDS day takes place each year on the 1st December. Currently over 101,000 people are living with HIV in the UK. Globally, there are an estimated 36.7 million people who have the virus. Since the virus was first identified in 1984, "more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history" (worldaidsday.org).

The National Aids Trust works to help those living with HIV, working to dispel the myths and reduce the stigma and discrimination in society.
