Lindsay is currently studying her PGCE at Ashton Sixth Form College and is about to embark on an amazing trip to Northern India. She will visit Sakar Society School in Himachal Pradesh, located in the Western Himalayas.

Throughout Lindsay’s PGCE she has shown a strong passion for working with students who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). During her course, she completed her practical placements with the college’s Inclusive Learning department. She also chose a related subject for her Research Project. 

In a few weeks, she will visit the school that works primarily with students who have different needs and require a range of support. She will see how young people with SEND are catered for by different cultures and will spend two weeks with a local family. Her trip will allow her to become fully immersed in the local culture and is a fantastic opportunity. 
Ashton Sixth Form College work in partnership with Staffordshire University, who have the ‘Student Experience Fund’ available to support students on trips such as this. 

During the two weeks, Lindsay will observe lessons and also teach English to students. Lindsay will develop her skills and put her PGCE in to practice, a staggering 4,000 miles away from home. The college will be receiving regular updates from Lindsay during her time in India and will share her adventures with everyone along the way.
