First students in the Art and Design building
This academic year marks the first set of students who have been able to call the brand new Art and Design building home.
The building was created to further expand Ashton Sixth Form College's campus and was completed in June/July 2019. With the growth of the college's Art and Design department, it was vital that students had their own space to succeed. The building was officially opened at the Arts Festival, celebrating the creative community at the college alongside other creative departments including Digital Technology & Multimedia, English and Performing Arts..
Art and Design students now have dedicated studios for 3D Design & Technology (moving in next year), Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography and the Art Foundation Year course. The department now has a photography studio, heat treatment and ceramic room, as well as a dark room, allowing students to develop new skills to further them in their future careers.
After countless years in the planning stages, it is incredible to the Art building seamlessly become part of the college campus.
