Physics students from Ashton Sixth Form College took part in the British Physics Olympiad Senior Challenge 2021.

The British Physics Olympiad is "designed to test understanding and problem solving skills" and "aims to recognise excellence in young physicists through ten annual Physics and Astronomy & Astrophysics competitions" (www.bpho.org.uk).

Students from Ashton took part in the Senior Challenge which encouraged them to apply physics principles to situations. The competition stretched and challenged their understanding of physics, encouraging them to approach things in alternate ways. 

This year's competition took place online and 5300 students from 380 schools/colleges took part. Of those, 18.4 % achieved the Gold Award, of which three of those students were from Ashton Sixth Form College. Students from Ashton also successfully achieved silver and bronze awards.
