Amber Jones, who studies Chemistry, Biology and Sociology here at Ashton, participated in work experience at Astra Zeneca during the summer break.

Amber became aware of the opportunity through her Chemistry teacher, and was successful in securing the placement. She travelled to and from the Macclesfield site day to day which made her confidence and independence grow. 

Throughout the work experience, Amber participated in various talks focusing on working in the industry, along with educational talks such as analytical Chemistry and analysing molecules.

Amber was also given tours of the pharmaceutical production plants and was given the opportunity to complete a practical in the labs.

Amber had an incredible time during her work experience and found it exciting to grow her knowledge of working in the industry!
