4 May 2023

Anya Waugh studies Applied Science, Psychology and Criminology here at Ashton. Alongside her studies, she participates in competitive wheelchair racing.

Anya began her racing journey at 7 years old, after watching the London 2012 Paralympics and becoming inspired. She quickly started competing domestically after one year of training and became the under 11 champion.

Anya's racing journey has exceeded from racing domestically to training six times a week and competing professionally across the country. Anya has competed in the British Championships and the Diamond League. She is the current under 18 National Junior Champion and the School Games National Finals Champion.

As a current member of KirkbyAC club in Liverpool, Anya is now coached by Hannah Cookroft and Commonwealth Games champion Nathan Maguire. Anya's end goal is to partake in the Paralympics and win medals for Great Britain.

Anya is currently fundraising for a new racing wheelchair. Donations can be made here.
