Two Ashton Sixth Form College students secure City in the Community degree scholarships!
Two Ashton Sixth Form College students on the Football Coaching course have been successful with their scholarship applications for the Manchester City Football Coaching Degree in partnership with City in the Community and Manchester Metropolitan University.
Cole Beard and Adam Buckley both submitted outstanding applications and were successful in their formal interviews.
Cole and Adam have studied our Football Coaching and Development course with City in the Community over the past two years. The full-time vocational course suits those seeking a career in the sport and active leisure sector as sports coaches, instructors and leaders who have a real passion for football.
Both students will now go on to study the Football Coaching course at Manchester Metropolitan University for three years. This course combines theory-based and work-based learning, with them splitting their time between the university's Institute of Sport and the Etihad Campus.
Graham Saffery, Head of Ashton's Sport and Public Services department said:
"We are very proud of Adam and Cole on their fantastic and well-deserve scholarships. They have really developed themselves as fine students and coaches within the Sport and Public Services department, as well as outside of college in the local community, making a real difference with the young athletes and giving them some outstanding coaching and nurturing in their chosen sports."
Rory Drysdale, the Football Coaching Coach said:
"For two Ashton students to receive a full scholarship to attend university is an outstanding achievement! It reflects the hard work and dedication the students have applied over their two years with the college, and they are fully deserving of this recognition. I am so excited to see where this latest opportunity takes them, and would not be surprised to find them working alongside myself in the sports industry very soon! Cole and Adam well done, we are all so proud of you!"
We look forward to see everything Cole and Adam will achieve throughout their next venture at Manchester Metropolitan University and wish them the best of luck!
