Before the Christmas break, Ashton Sixth Form College celebrated our annual Awards Evening. 

Students, staff and families gathered together on the evening to recognise and celebrate students' achievements of the past year. Our college band, 'Aura' joined us to play for families and guests on arrival.

Centre Principal Lisa Richards began the evening with a warm welcome and shared her congratulations to the students who received awards. Lisa was followed by our guest of honour, Chris Lyness who has over 30 years of history with the college. Chris taught Biology here when the college was Ashton Grammar School and progressed through her career, eventually becoming Deputy Principal of Ashton Sixth Form College before retiring in 2007. Chris shared her career journey and experience with the college with students, inspiring them as they begin their journey after Ashton Sixth Form College. 

We were also joined by The Worshipful Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Tafheen Sharif who congratulated and awarded certificates to the students. 

To close the evening, Student Council president Mariam Alashe offered a vote of thanks to our staff and special guests and congratulated all students who received an award
