Our Careers and Employability team have held an employer networking event to kick start the preparation for Be Ambitious week in July.

Following a huge success in 2023, the Be Ambitious programme is being rolled out for another year to our first year students. 

The team at Ashton hosted the employer networking event to grow partnerships with local and national organisations who can then support our students during Be Ambitious week. 

Throughout Be Ambitious week, students can either participate in a work placement, or take part in an employer-led project, where industry experts set real-time briefs for students to work on and present back their findings and project at the end of the week.

The Be Ambitious programme ensures students have access to meaningful employer encounters and gain work experience, helping them develop key employability skills.

The networking event saw employers from various organisations learning more about how they can support and get involved in the Be Ambitious programme. They heard from the Careers and Employability team, as well as Dean Kleban from Tameside Council who shared an insight into the local support available for businesses and young people.

A current student, Harriott also shared her experience of the Be Ambitious programme, and employers Dawn Lee from Stamford Products Ltd, Be Ambitious sponsors, and Richard Bradley from Kellanova. Dawn and Richard shared their experiences of participating in Be Ambitious last year and how rewarding and important it is to mentor and work with the students at Ashton Sixth Form College.

The team at Ashton are looking forward to another successful year of Be Ambitious, working with local and national organisations and creating valuable experiences for the students at Ashton Sixth Form College.
