27 students from Public Services recently visited Altcar Army Training Camp near Hightown, Liverpool. The purpose of the visit was for the students to have an in depth look at what life is like in the Army, and the type exercises they would complete as part of an Army career.  Students had missions to accomplish as well as physical training, for example a 1.5mile run in 10 minutes 30 seconds for males and 13 minutes for females. 

“Well, what can I say…I loved every minute of it, from the physical activities like, the shooting range, trekking, paintballing, 1.5mile run, the night activity and many more to the career briefings given to us by the qualified Army staff.  In the evenings there was still time to chill with friends, watch TV and play a bit of pool in the NAFI (National Association of Flight Instructors)!

It was one of the most memorable experiences for me and through this I have realised that I would love a job in the military police, this is now my ambition. This residential has given me the confidence to believe this is now possible.

If given the chance to go again I will be the first on the coach…It was amazing!”
